What is a Chautauqua?

A Chautauqua is a form of adult education and entertainment that began in the late 19th century in the U.S. It started as a summer camp for public lectures, performances, and discussions, designed to bring education, culture, and enrichment to communities.

In essence, it was like a traveling university, combining lectures, music, and cultural programs to educate and inspire people. Chautauquas encouraged thought, conversation, and community engagement on various topics, from the arts to politics. Today, we honor that tradition with presentations like this, where the goal is to share knowledge, provoke thought, and have meaningful dialogue on important subjects.

Can't wait to see you all there!
